What do we mean by “Authentic Life”? It means understanding the limitations of time, knowing what we truly value, and then deciding to live your life accordingly.
Take friends, for example. Seems like we are exposed to so many people during the course of our daily lives it gets confusing who “friends” really are. All of a sudden we find ourselves spending a lot of time with people we may not even like or know that well. We think all of us could use a bit more time with the people who like us without even knowing what we do for a living. Momma used to call these our “kitchen table friends.”
Families today find their lives splintered to the point that the old traditions that made for quality time have all but disappeared. Family dinners happen maybe once a week. All too often they consist of frozen dinners or fast food. Dixie Picnic is not “fast” food but it is great for takeout dinners. We’ll give you back some time in the day so maybe family dinners can become a ritual again. Reconnect with the people who really matter.
Finally, how did we ever get to the point where “more” and “bigger” became synonymous with better? Did you know the Mona Lisa is probably half the size of the average American’s tv screen? While we won’t brag that our food qualifies as a masterpiece, we think that the flavor you find in our food will at least rise to the level of everyday culinary art.
Satisfaction is what it is all about. When we fill our time and our lives with family, friends, and events that bring us joy, we move a little slower and feel satisfied that life is good. When you taste Dixie Picnic food and the flavor that results from the use of our authentic ingredients you’ll feel satisfied without feeling overfed.
Authenticity may very well be the reason Momma, Bucky, the great aunts, and their whole generation seemed so much more content, with so much less. Their days were filled with enough time for those people that mattered, and their meals consisted of food that fed their souls.
