Dixie Picnic in Malvern, PA celebrates the tradition of homemade comfort food made from scratch through our unique, slightly-Southern take on box lunches, artisan sandwiches, and flavorful, fresh baked goods from our on-site bakery.

I came in planning to order a chicken salad sandwich since it was recommended by several friends, but when I arrived and saw the hot sandwich options, I couldn’t resist ordering the Shrimp Po’boy. I am from New Orleans and had a hankering for a taste of home. It did not disappoint!The shrimp had been breaded in a well-seasoned batter, cooked to perfection, then drizzled with an authentic remoulade. It was served open faced atop fresh lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and sliced pickles. Mmm.Although the bread was a little different than the typical french bread which is crunchy on the outside and soft and airy on the inside, this bread was soft and white all around with a little cornmeal on the bottom. The bread was honestly heavenly and I think anything you put on it would be delicious! I want to go back and see if they sell the poboy rolls individually for the next time I host a party and serve any sort of sandwiches.I would also love if they added an option to add extra shrimp to the sandwich for an extra charge because, really, they were so good you are gonna want more.Bon appettit! WOW that's all I could say with each and every bite from Bette's lunch box, sooo so so delicious and jam packed for all your craving needs. I couldn't even believe how much food was condensed in such a crafty way. This is how lunches should be! Let's start; The sandwich which was chicken salad was just down right mouthwatering, best chicken salad sandwich ever hands down. The potato salad was not what I expected with a nice salty/vinegar/oil/cream base instead of a too creamy base like it usually is made but this way was much better made, remastered IMO. The deviled egg was a very intriguing addition to the meal, nice little snack before digging in! And finally the upcake which was a lemon zest, it brought the zest alright! No need to make lemonade with your lemons just make these 😄! Staff is also a pleasure!! Southern hospitality is still alive and thriving here at Dixie's! Thank you y'all!!!read more

This place makes the best sandwiches in a Chester County by FAR. The quality is always consistent, and service is incredibly fast - even when ordering via DoorDash. Prices are exemplary for the amount of food you get, which is just over the perfect amount (no complaints here, DP leftovers slap). I’ve had the BLT, pulled pork with Brie, roast beef and turkey sandwiches so far along with a variety of upcake flavors and all were delicious. We had Dixie Picnic career our daughter’s baptism party. Everyone received individual boxes lunches. We cannot thank Dixie Picnic enough for the care they took taking our order (checking spelling for the names on the boxes, triple checking the individual orders), and also the for tasty food they provided. Our guests were absolutely blown away by the deliciousness of their individual boxes and of the upcakes! The boxed lunches made our social distancing party even easier since everyone had their own self-contained meal and did not need to eat from communal sides or trays. The BBQ is as good as I've had it in North Carolina. The bun is tasty, fluffy and sopps up the sauce quite well!

I like their vegetarian sandwich and their upcakes! The portion is huge and tasty! It can get very crowded at times! They offer a deviled egg as a side, i wish there was a vegetarian substitution for that! Their side of pasta salad is bland! But overall would definitely recommend this place !read more

Located in Malvern, PA, this little franchise restaurant is a gold mine tucked in a little strip mall who's character and southern charm is so big that they have to have an outside seating area. The food was wonderful, the employees went out of their way to please us, and the story behind the business makes you want to come back again and again. I ordered the Bette's Boxed Lunch with the roast beef and provolone sandwich, on Sally Lunn bread. (Picture a hamburger bun, sheet cake style, cut in triangles.) . It comes with a deviled egg, and I chose the potato salad for my side, which was topped with a sweet pickle, and the peach "upcake" for my dessert. Washed the whole thing down with a Coca-Cola, and I was stuffed to the gills. I grew up loving PA Dutch cooking, but this southern stuff is a close second. "Momma wisely taught her daughters at an early age to learn to bake, knowing they'd need more than good looks to get them a husband". Love that! read more

Ordered daily special, a messy but delicious cheeseburger. Customers are in and out quickly and air conditioning doesn't quite cope on hot days. But it is worth it. Come before noon and there is no waiting.read more

You have to respect a diner that makes their own jelly.I thought it was a little suspect that each topping you want in your omelet is individually charged, but I got mine with bacon and cheese and the bacon was big meaty bites and they didn't skimp on the cheese. Hot gooey, and full of flavor.Despite being a 90 minute drive from where I live, my wife and I left planning to come back to the area sometime just so we could eat there again.read more

Food – even bread – is done on site. Virginia baked ham box lunch with potato salad like Mom made is the real deal. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. Great experience.
